The business of Natural Gas starts with the exploration for gas fields across the world and developing these gas fields for production of gas. The natural gas is associated with water, impurities and heavier hydrocarbons. These contaminants mainly are removed in the production process before being piped for further processing and use. The gas under different processes is converted to LNG.

In the olden days and even now the gas is transported through the pipeline to different customers. However, this leaves many potential customers without access to this very useful source of energy. In the late 1960’s, the first commercial ventures exploited the fact that liquefied natural gas occupies 600 times less volume than it does in gaseous form. Therefore, it is easier to transport natural gas efficiently and economically to distant customers in its liquefied state rather than gaseous state. LNG is Liquefied natural gas (predominantly methane, CH4) that has been converted to liquid form for ease of storage and transport. Liquefied natural gas takes up about 1/600th the volume of natural gas in the gaseous state. It is odorless, colorless, non-toxic and non-corrosive. LNG is easier to store and transport to markets around the world.
